Painting of Madame Pele.
This painting shows Madame Pele, a pure virgin, with clean eyes and a benevolent countenance. She is adorned with a lay of lehua blossoms and carries an anthurium in her hand as a sign of love. She has the golden skin of a goddess. There are five goddesses: those of the mountains, oceans, sky, land, and fire. Madame Pele is the original fire goddess who protects this world and Buddha land, and prevents it from catching on fire. Since more than 200 years, people in Hawaii have thought that Madame Pele is mean. However, this painting shows the true appearance of Madame Pele, which Dae Poep Sa Nim perceived in her meditation. From time to time, Madame Pele has been disappointed because until now no one had correctly represented her pure, loving, and compassionate mind.
